about our research
Metro Urology is committed to identifying new therapies Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic tickets for our patients. Often access to these new therapies, which can include both pharmaceutical products and medical devices, has been limited to large academic medical centers (“teaching” hospitals). We are proud that our physicians and staff are active in staying abreast of cutting edge treatments in the areas of cancer therapies, sexual dysfunction, urinary incontinence, prostate disease, and general urology.
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has oversight over new drugs and devices developed for human use. The route that drugs and devices take on their way from being a concept in a laboratory to a safe and effective item marketed for patient use, is the “clinical trial” process. Over a period of many years for any given drug or device, tightly controlled and highly scrutinized testing is done in accordance with federal and state laws, industry standards, and good clinical practices. The results of these testing processes are reviewed by not only the FDA, but by independent review boards charged with objective data review to ensure the safety and welfare of study volunteers.
The Metro Urology research staff adheres to federal, state, industry, and clinical standards of practice in performance of its research studies. Clinical research is a specialized area of medical and surgical practice, and we pride ourselves on the depth of experience of our staff.
